METAL SHEATHING LINES

Where metal is used for protection

Templet develops and implements complete system solutions for the metal sheathing of cables and pipes. Depending on the product, material, and individual customer requirements, the metal layer can be precisely butt-welded or overlap-bonded. Machines and systems specifically developed for these applications enable continuous, reliable production and ensure consistently high quality standards.

Metal Sheathing Lines

Templet Deutschland GmbH develops and produces complete systems for the precise coating of a wide variety of products with thin metal strips. Our technologies are used wherever a base product needs to be continuously encased in a metallic layer and then permanently welded or overlapped and bonded.

The applications are diverse: from aluminum cladding for multilayer composite pipes and metallic protective and barrier layers for land and sea cables to customized applications in energy, battery, and industrial production. Materials processed include aluminum, stainless steel, copper, and other metallic materials – tailored to the specific product and the required manufacturing process.

A metal wrapping system from Templet can handle the entire metalworking process: from unwinding and feeding the metal strip, through straightening, centering, and precise trimming, to forming it around the respective base product. The strip edges are then joined with high precision and continuously longitudinally welded using state-of-the-art laser technology. Depending on the application, further processes such as calibration, testing, heating, or cooling can be integrated directly into the system.

Crucial to this is the perfect interplay of all individual process steps. Strip guidance, strip width, forming process and welding position must be precisely coordinated to guarantee consistently high quality even at high production speeds.

This is precisely where our experience lies: Templet combines decades of know-how in roll forming technology with modern laser and automation technology.

Our systems are individually designed to suit the product, material, dimensions, and desired production output. From individual machine modules to complete metal cladding lines, we create tailor-made solutions for demanding industrial manufacturing processes.

Structure:

1. Strip Feeding

The belt feed, also called "belt system", consists of two Unwind reels , a strip end welding machine and a Tape storage The conveyor belt feeder thus ensures continuous production and a constant supply of belt material for the downstream components.

2. Strip Trimming/Cutting

To remove all oxide layers and damage to the belt, we trim (cut) the belt on both sides by approximately 0.8 mm to 1.5 mm. The desired belt width can easily be adjusted via the Trimming station be hired.

The resulting edge strips will be on our chip curlers wound up.

3. Metal Sheathing/Shielding

With the help of the Roll forming tools The flat metal strips are formed into a round geometry.
In metal sheathing systems, the cable or pipe is sheathed with a metal strip using a forming tool. Tight manufacturing tolerances and brilliant surfaces guarantee the highest precision in processing.

4. Welding Station

Once the strip material has precisely encased the inner product, the welding process takes place. Depending on customer requirements, the system can be equipped with either a TIG welding system or a high-precision laser welding system.

5. Calibration

Through the calibration The metal layer is calibrated to the desired diameter. This creates a strong bond between the metal layer and the inner plastic tube or cable. Only through precise calibration does the final product achieve perfect adhesion.
