MULTI-LAYER COMPOSITE PIPE SYSTEMS

From Experience Comes Innovation

Innovation is built on experience. Since pioneering one of the first complete production lines for multilayer composite pipes in 1995, Templet Deutschland GmbH has continuously refined its technologies and manufacturing solutions. Today, our customers benefit from more than three decades of engineering expertise, advanced production technology, and tailor-made solutions designed to meet the highest standards of quality, precision, and performance.

Multilayer pipe laser welding

The Templet Deutschland GmbH develops, produces and supplies complete extrusion lines for the manufacture of multilayer composite pipes.

The extrusion machines for inner and outer tubes come exclusively from renowned manufacturers – this allows Templet Deutschland GmbH to successfully specialize in aluminum cladding for years and to continuously develop innovative solutions.

In close collaboration with our long-standing partner in the extrusion sector, joint control concepts and user interfaces were developed. The result: a well-thought-out line integration with coordinated control – for an intuitive "one-look" experience that enables quick training and convenient operation.

We also set standards in terms of performance:

Back in 2006, we broke the then speed record in the production of multilayer composite pipes with 50 m/min.

In 2025 we were able to significantly exceed this record again with 80 m/min – another milestone in our technological development.

We can proudly say:

A large proportion of composite pipe manufacturers rely on Templet production lines for their manufacturing processes.

Construction of multilayer composite pipe systems:

1. Inner Pipe Extrusion

In inner tube extrusion, the plastic inner tube is produced first. Depending on the intended application, different plastics and material layers are used. Precise extrusion forms the basis for the subsequent production steps and ensures a uniform tube geometry as well as consistently high product quality.

2. Strip Feeding

The belt feed, also called "belt system", consists of two Unwind reels , a strip end welding machine and a Tape storage The band preparation thus ensures continuous production..

3. Strip Trimming/Cutting

To remove all oxide layers and damage to the belt, we trim (cut) the belt on both sides by approximately 0.8 mm to 1.5 mm. The desired belt width can easily be adjusted via the Trimming station be hired.

The resulting edge strips will be on our chip curlers wound up.

4. Forming

With the help of the Roll forming tools , also called forming lines, the flat metal strips are formed into a tube.
In composite pipe systems, the inner plastic pipe is encased in a metal strip using a molding tool. Tight manufacturing tolerances and brilliant surfaces guarantee the highest precision in processing.

4. Welding Station

Once the strip material has been precisely formed into a tube, it must then be welded. Depending on customer requirements, we can equip the system with either a TIG welding machine or a laser welding machine..

5. Pipe Calibration

Through the Pipe calibration The pipe is calibrated to the desired diameter. This creates a strong bond between the aluminum pipe and the plastic inner pipe. Only through precise calibration does the final product achieve perfect adhesion.

6. Outer Layer Extrusion

After the metal sheathing is formed, welded, and calibrated, the pipe is coated with the outer plastic layer. The outer sheath extrusion provides lasting protection for the metal pipe and gives the composite pipe its final surface finish. The precise coordination of all material layers results in a high-quality and durable composite.

7. Pipe Cutting and Pipe Coiling

At the end of the production line, the finished composite pipe is prepared for further processing. Depending on the pipe dimensions and customer requirements, it is either cut to the desired length or continuously wound onto a pipe winder. This completes the entire production process, and the pipe is ready for packaging, transport, and further use.
